Yorkhill Children’s Foundation is proud to present the Yorkhill Grand Prix challenge on Wednesday 21 April 2010 at Scotkart, Cambuslang.

Fourteen teams of four drivers will take part in a two-hour endurance race where slick changeovers and tight cornering skills are essential in achieving the highest number of laps on one of the most unique karting tracks in Europe. Each team taking part in this adrenalin-fuelled event will receive a full safety briefing, all race wear, the use of a top of the range 200cc, 40mph Honda powered pro-kart. The race kicks off with a 20 minute qualifier and then it’s pedals to the metal for the two-hour challenge. Energy levels will be kept up with a hearty buffet dinner and drinks.

Each team must raise a minimum of £400 (between the four drivers) in sponsorship and starting grid positions will be determined by the amount of money raised, with the team which raises the most money taking pole position on the grid. The top three teams will take to the podium and raise their trophies as race champions and there will also be a prize for the team that raises the highest amount of money.

All money raised will go to Yorkhill Children’s Foundation. Every year, around 150,000 children from all over Scotland attend the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill in Glasgow. Yorkhill Children's Foundation aims to fund the 'extra' services and equipment for the whole of Yorkhill which otherwise could not be provided, from state-of-the-art equipment to children's entertainers.

All wards and departments can apply to the Foundation for support and we work every day to put the smiles back onto children’s faces and make their stay in hospital less distressing. We aim to fund medical equipment, improvements in child and family facilities, and paediatric research and training. Scanners, incubators, ventilators, monitors and many more examples of equipment, services and research have been added to the hospital’s resources.

If you would like to enter a team, all you have to do is complete the enclosed registration form and we’ll send you out your participation pack which includes sponsor forms to get you started on your fundraising. If you require more information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch on 0141 201 6917 or email abigail.stein@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

So get your motors running and take your positions. We look forward to seeing you there.

Yours sincerely,

Abigail Stein
